Rodney and Deborah Brown, a husband-and-wife team and founders of Heart 2Help, LLC,  learned first-hand what caregiving entailed when their dad, who was 95 years old at the time, came to live with them due to his dementia diagnosis and inability to continue to live alone.  ​ 

Rodney and Deborah, due to work schedules and their dad’s increasing needs, sought caregiving services to augment services they were already providing as caregivers to their dad. While there were a few good caregivers, they learned very quickly that “Caring is From the Heart” and that you must have a “Heart to Help” in order to be in the home care business. ​ Some of their dad's caregivers were not engaging, not attentive, or motivated to do more.   Some spent most of their time on their cell phones, not present, basically, did not care.  ​ 

The final straw and what made Rodney and Deborah Brown decide to dismiss caregiver services, care for their own dad, and start their own home care business, was when a caregiver, in the midst of COVID-19, consistently came to care for dad while sick with COVID-19 like symptoms.  This, in turn, caused their now 97-year-old dad to become gravely ill. It was then that they discontinued caregiver service. It was too risky, and they did not want their dad to contract COVID-19 due to caregiver negligence. 

Rodney had already worked with patients at a hospital for 20 years and Deborah worked in "Quality" at a large pharmaceutical company for almost 25 years and was very familiar with policies and procedures needed to run a successful home care business while meeting state regulations.

It was clear that with the high turnover rate of caregivers (we had at least 5 in just a few months), the lack of care for the elderly and disabled from some of the caregivers, and Rodney and Deborah's passion always being to help the elderly, that it was time to start their own home care business and make certain to hire those that they know have a “Heart to Help”.
